Dr. Ralph F. Rashbaum is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a specialization in spine surgery. He co-founded the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas, which has grown into one of the largest spine specialty clinics in the US. Dr. Rashbaum received his MD from the Chicago Medical School and completed a spine fellowship with Drs. Rothman and Simone.
In addition to traditional spine care, years ago Dr. Rashbaum developed an interest in diagnosing and treating challenging chronic low back pain patients, many of whom were failed surgery patients. This resulted in his developing an in-depth understanding of pain mechanisms and the physiological effect of various treatments. His experience in pain modulation resulted in his developing a unique understanding of the use of spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain patients. He has been a leader in that field for many years and has worked with several companies to continually improve devices for this intervention.
Dr. Rashbaum has published numerous articles and book chapters. He devotes time to training others in the evaluation of chronic low back pain patients and the use of spinal cord stimulation.
